Job Description- MXA Tactical Planner
As a Supply Chain Global Supply Management (GSM) Supply Planner at Micron Technology, Inc., you will be responsible for managing supply in response to demand management requirements and drive alignment of end to end value chain strategies that meet the needs of customers and directly contribute to the bottom line and corporate sustainability.
You will create a global production plan that takes a great deal of planning and analysis to increase efficiency, improve customer service, and decrease waste and lower costs. This will require a high degree of analytical capability to optimize the complex balance between customer expectations, inventory, capacity, lead-time, lot-size and other supply chain factors. You will accomplish this by understanding the specific needs and dynamics of the supply chain, the customers’ requirements, and product level attributes. You will be responsible for monitoring and reporting on inventory and WIP and work with Fab, Probe, Assembly, Test, and Module areas to enable efficient use of capacity. You will communicate with the Demand Management teams to address areas where the supply may be adjusted to better satisfy demand. You may also work with Marketing, Sales, Product Engineering, QA, and Operations to enable new product introduction (NPI).
Role Responsibilities & Tasks
Validate the Demand Signal
· Validate that the demand signal is consistent with Demand Management input
· Validate supply response to demand signal in time phase buckets
· Recognize changes in the demand signal from week to week
· For NPI, collect demand signal from Engineering and Marketing and input into the system
· Validate customer requirements and priorities with Sales and Marketing to ensure proper customer prioritization
· Build plan based on determinations
· Escalate issues based on inability to meet demand
· Monitor, apply judgment and react to inventory, backorder and service levels of purchased raw and manufactured finished goods to achieve customer service and business objectives
· Support new product launches / product discontinuance programs
Create a Manufacturing Plan and Statement of Supply
· Optimize the manufacturing plan by consolidating input from manufacturing departments regarding current constraints (supply, materials, staffing, and quality)
· Review overall constraints based on all the department inputs and collaborate with cross functional teams to determine wants versus needs, resolve conflicts and identify any trade-off necessary
· Identify decision points at each step to satisfy the demand request
· Evaluate department business rules as they apply to constraints
· Update supply picture based on constraints
· Make decisions to change manufacturing plan based on trade-off priorities
· Apply yield and cycle times to manufacturing steps
· Perform calculations within manufacturing plan spreadsheets
· Clarify input information with department planners
· Provide alternative solutions to Demand Management regarding demand and capacity conflicts
· Provide data analysis support
· Provide pre-warning communication to Demand Management regarding changes in supply
· Communicate build issues to Demand Management or Manufacturing
· Create and maintain SAP-APO for appropriate supply response to demand requirements
Manage Inventory
· Evaluate inventory at all levels and determine if batch part attributes meet projected customer requirements
· Determine required changes in the manufacturing plan based on bottlenecks
· Evaluate changes to determine cause and long term effect
· Evaluate Finished Goods inventory
· Execute business rules of different departments across the company
· Determine alternative solutions to satisfy current build
· Alter wafer start profile based on changes in demand and/or supply
· Determine changes to the manufacturing plan
· Enforce decisions based on the manufacturing plan
· Evaluate current inventory of banks and take appropriate action when banks are over or under target
· Determine bank needs based on history, forecast, business rules, etc.
· Work with Purchasing groups to ensure materials safety stock is available
· Manage inventory levels based on quality variations and static inventory
· Manage safety stock to reduce risk of going over or under the build plan, and support the ability to make changes to the plan
· Work with Demand Management teams to address increasing bank levels tied to demand shortage
Support Joint Venture and Partner Build Plans
· Interact closely with Micron joint venture sites to understand site considerations (sub contractor execution processes, shipping times, etc.)
· Understand meaningful information within contracts
· Provide a build plan to manufacturing JV sites based on site specific needs regarding software and product tracking requirements
· Interact closely with Micron joint venture sites to ensure that the proper information is provided and received to support the manufacturing Plan
· Provide direction on shipping between Micron departments and the appropriate joint venture site
· Maintain relationships with appropriate joint venture sites for the purpose of inventory management, WIP movement reports, staging material, and changing start plans
· Assist in set up of joint venture material tracking and reporting, as needed
· Handle the supply response to partner demands within contract guidelines
Education
Required
Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience
· Production and Operations Management (POM)
· Supply Chain Management
· Related field of study
