Job Purpose
1.We are looking for an individual with a proven ability to lead and inspire a talented team of hardware engineers, working with engineering management, customers and product management to deliver our industry-leading hardware products.
2.The successful candidate will be responsible for the technical specification of the product, the technical management of the design and validation engineers working on the project, the creation and scrutiny of design and verification specifications, and for driving the team to ensure delivery to specification, quality and schedule. 

Essential Skills and Experience 
1.Significant experience of RTL design for complex ASIC products 
2.Strong hardware development experience, spanning specification, design, verification, implementation, and delivery. 
3.Ability to make trade-offs between power, performance and area appropriately to meet the requirements of the product 
4.Experience in all stages of the design cycle: initial concept, specification, implementation and testing, documentation and support 
5.Experience producing specifications and documentation describing complex designs 
6.Ability to work under time-scale pressure and meet aggressive targets without compromising on quality 
7.Understanding of the fundamentals of computer architecture 
8.Experience in leading a team of highly skilled engineers 
9.Excellent communication skills at technical, senior management, and customer levels 
10.Highly proactive, with strong multi-tasking skills 
11.Strong planning skills 
12.Proficiency in problem solving 
13.Practical, organised, and analytical approach to work 
14.Excellent communication and networking skills 
15.Enthusiasm, drive and the ability to schedule own workload and plan tasks 
16.Significant technical team leadership experience, including planning, managing tasks and driving delivery to specification and schedule 

Desirable Skills and Experience 
1.Practical experience of working on microprocessor designs 
2. Proficiency in scripting languages, e.g. Perl/TCL/Python 
3.Knowledge of assembly language (preferably Arm), C/C++ and/or hardware verification languages e.g. SystemVerilog, Specman ‘e’ 
4.Line management experience 
5.Experience working and communicating with cross-site teams 
6.Understanding of functional safety principles and experience of designer functional safety features
