UNIX System Admin

Job Title：UNIX System Admin
Location: Shanghai


Duties and Responsibilities:

• System administration

• Install and manage systems running Linux, in an advanced engineering environment. Your routine tasks are system provisioning, updating, inventory, monitoring and diagnosis.
• Follow company policy and procedures to administrate various IT infrastructure services.
• Manage IT assets in its life cycle from procurement, deployment, until retirement

• Data center operation

• Work in a data center to ensure high availability, reliability, and scalability
• Follow procedures to install, relocate or remove and hardware in the date center
• Connect devices to network
• Monitor performance of systems and make reports

• Customer support:

• Support developer who work on systems running Linux. 
• Share on-call duties with regional IT team, provides proper solutions or escalation paths.
• Write technical documents, provide training on procedures and present solutions in a professional manner.
• Must take ownership for customer IT issues coming your way.

• IT Projects

• Work on project that create new IT service, or improve current services
• Collaborate with the project manager and other project team members to deliver project result within constrains like scope of work, schedule, and cost.

• Emergency response

• Some work will be scheduled out of normal work hours in short notice;
• Sometimes you need to travel for

• Education:

• BS in Computer Science, Information Technology, or engineering education, with at least One year of work experience in IT;
• Or MS in Computer Science, Information Technology, or engineering education.

• Proficient with Linux operating systems.

• A certification like Red Hat Certified Linux Engineer or equivalent.
• Comfortable working with common Unix command line tools
• Understand network services like IP, TCP, UDP, DHCP, NFS, LDAP, DNS, NIS, etc.
• Able to write scripts or applications in one or more languages listed below: Shell, PHP, Perl, python, Ruby, or JavaScript
• Experience with virtualization or distributed computing environment is a plus.
• Experience in working on computers on network remotely, able to setup secure connections between computers.
• Understand interoperability problems when Linux systems and Windows systems are used together.

• Confident using English in a working environment

• Reading and writing specifications, documenting system changes
• Presenting and reporting in meetings
• Verbal discussion on technical topics

• Knowledge on computer hardware

• Experience in opening computer and replacing internal parts.
• Experience in setting up network for more than 10 computers

• Self-driven, results-oriented with a positive outlook, and a clear focus on high quality results. 
• Ability to collaborate with team members.
